Solar field in Nevada

Focus: Question 6, a ballot measure that would require Nevada to get half of its energy through renewable sources by 2030.

Who's paying for it: Nevadans for a Clean Energy Future, a PAC supporting Question 6

Size of buy: $6 million

When it starts: Sept. 18

Where's it running: Las Vegas, Reno, Eastern Nevada

The gist: The 30-second spot largely touts the provisions within Question 6, which would boost state renewable portfolio standards (RPS) by 30 percent over the next twelve years, as well as "more good jobs and cleaner air."

A number of left-leaning groups and activists, including California billionaire Tom Steyer, have rallied behind Questions 6 in an effort to increase renewables in both Nevada and Arizona. Both states have some of the highest solar power potential in the country, according to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, but both have comparatively small RPS's. Nevada, for instance, is currently targeting an RPS of 25 percent by 2030.

A 2017 effort to increase the RPS to 40 percent by 2030 was vetoed by Gov. Brian Sandoval.
