A 50-year-old employee of a Democratic super PAC was jailed in Las Vegas and then fired after allegedly grabbing Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt’s campaign manager after a political forum.

City officials say Wilfred Michael Stark was arrested Tuesday evening by city marshals on suspicion of battery, and bailed out on Wednesday.

“The incident took place as an apparent result of an altercation involving Mr. Stark entering one of the rooms at the East Las Vegas Community Center with a camera and attempting to question Attorney General Adam Laxalt,” said city spokesman David Riggleman.

Stark appears to be the same person who was prosecuted but ultimately found not guilty of resisting arrest and causing a disturbance at a 2017 parade in Virginia that featured Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie. At the time, he was identified as a reporter for the progressive website ShareBlue Media, but he does not currently appear on the group’s site.

A LinkedIn profile for Stark characterizes him as a reporter for American Bridge, a super PAC that supports Democrats. On Wednesday afternoon, the group said it had fired him.

"Last night one of our employees was involved in an incident with a member of Adam Laxalt's campaign in Nevada. In response to that incident, we have decided to relieve this employee of his duties with American Bridge effective immediately," an official from the organization said.

Laxalt’s campaign manager Kristin Davison wrote in an affidavit that she was having a private conversation with Laxalt at the community center when Stark “aggressively interrupted our conversation, both by loudly yelling and physically shoving a camera and his body at the attorney general and me.”

She said she, Laxalt and staff moved into a private room, but Stark barged in, grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her back until colleagues tried to pull him off of her. She said she was screaming “help me,” was “terrified” by the incident. She added that she has a bruise on her arm and was in pain after the incident.

Asked whether Laxalt personally intervened in the incident, spokesman Parker Briden said “Las Vegas city marshals intervened.”

A police report indicates former Gov. Bob List, who is 82, was one of the people tried to aid Davison and pull Stark away from her.

"I was concerned for the safety of Attorney General Laxalt and Kristin," List wrote in an affidavit.

City officials said they did not know whether Stark had an attorney.
