Freshman Republican who fills the seat of former Assemblyman Glenn Trowbridge, who was appointed to the seat ahead of the 2015 Legislature and was defeated by Marchant in a primary election.
- Represents Assembly District 37, which Sun City Summerlin.
- Assembly District 37 has a slight Republican advantage (39 percent Republican, 38 percent Democrat and 17 percent nonpartisan in the 2016 election).
- Marchant knocked off incumbent Republican Assemblyman Glenn Trowbridge by a 63 to 37 percent margin in the Primary election.
- He defeated Democratic attorney Sean Lyttle by a narrower 52 to 48 percent margin in the 2016 general election.

FAMILY AND EDUCATION:
Marchant was born in Gainesville, FL in 1956. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, he received a degree in criminal justice from Troy State University in Alabama in 1978.
He moved to Las Vegas in 2005 and is semi-retired. His recreational activities include “dirt bike racing” according to his page on the Legislature’s website.
CAREER:
According to his campaign website, Marchant started working after college as a clerk in his father’s convenience store business in 1978, working his way up the ladder and eventually into a management position. He left in 1984 to start his own computer software business, and then in 1994 starting one of the first Internet Service Provider companies. Marchant testified against efforts to tax internet access in Florida, and was appointed by former Gov. Jeb Bush to serve on a board dealing with online regulations and law.
Marchant also sought to challenge Assembly Speaker John Hambrick in a recall election during the 2015 legislative session.
