Nevadans at Work is an ongoing video series that looks at jobs that help keep the state going and make Nevada what it is.

We visit workplaces across the state — from the Las Vegas Strip to the Biggest Little City to the great rural expanse — to see who keeps the Silver State running.

To preserve precious water in Nevada, workers at water reclamation districts convert wastewater, also known as influent, into usable water for uses including watering landscapes and cooling electrical plants. The Nevada Independent toured the Clark County Water Reclamation District facility back in January with Gilbert Cruz, a wastewater operator, to see how it all works.
