What's on your mind as election season gets underway?

We want to hear about it. That's why The Nevada Independent is partnering with Vegas PBS to produce the Nevada Democracy Project, an initiative focused on civic engagement and community conversations.

It's based on the democratic principle that every Nevadan — regardless of background — who is affected by an issue should have a say in the decision-making around it.

Our first community listening session will be held this week and moderated by Indy reporter Naoka Foreman and Amber Renee Dixon, host of Nevada Week. Here's what you need to know to join the wide-ranging conversation:

When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1

Where: West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89106

How to RSVP: Fill out this form

Can't watch live? Check out our livestream, which will go live on our YouTube page just before the event begins.

We’re looking out for Nevada — and for you

At The Nevada Independent, we spend our days monitoring government meetings so the public knows what’s happening behind the scenes, holding powerful institutions accountable, and helping you understand the issues that affect you.

In this critical election year, that mission is especially important.

In 2026, we’re closely watching state races, policy changes, and public accountability — so our community has accurate, trusted information when it matters most.

We’ve set a goal to raise $48,000 by April 24. Every gift moves us closer.

Will you step up and help us serve our community?
