$500K digital ad campaign from Priorities USA hits Laxalt on Commerce Tax repeal
A Democratic super PAC that was a key backer of the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns is launching a new, $500,000 round of ads against Republican gubernatorial nominee Adam Laxalt.
The digital campaign from the Nevada affiliate of Priorities USA Action launches Friday and will feature ads on Facebook, YouTube, Pandora, Spotify and Google.
One of the ads criticizes Laxalt’s support for repealing the Commerce Tax, a levy on businesses that make more than $4 million a year in Nevada revenue. The plan has garnered criticism from the tax’s main champion, Gov. Brian Sandoval, although Laxalt is highly unlikely to accomplish the goal even if he’s elected because Democrats are all but certain to control the Legislature and an effort to repeal the tax by a statewide referendum once again failed to gain traction.
“Governor Sandoval himself has said that Laxalt’s plan would harm children, which is why he’s so far refused to endorse Laxalt to succeed him,” said Patrick McHugh, executive director of Priorities USA Action. “Every single voter in Nevada who cares about the future of their state and their children needs to know about Adam Laxalt’s dangerous plan.”
The Super PAC first started running ads in the race in May.
