Nearly 150 residents and staff members in nursing homes, behavioral health centers and correctional facilities across Nevada have tested positive for COVID-19 and 14 have died, according to a new state dashboard released Monday morning.

More than half of the cases are spread across more than a dozen skilled nursing facilities in Clark and Washoe counties, where 39 residents and 37 staff members have tested positive for the novel coronavirus and eight have died. In total, 77 residents and 66 staff members have tested positive across 29 facilities.

In addition to the cases at skilled nursing facilities, there are another 46 cases at behavioral health inpatient facilities, including 25 residents and 21 staff members; 14 cases at assisted living facilities, including 12 residents and two staff members; six cases among staff members at correctional facilities; and one case in a resident at a Las Vegas facility providing services to children and adults with disabilities.

The release of the new state dashboard comes just four days after state officials released a list of 20 assisted living and skilled nursing facilities with residents or staff members who had tested positive for COVID-19 in response to a records request from The Nevada Independent. At that time, state officials had said they would not provide individual case counts for residents or staff members because numbers were rapidly changing.

The Independent sent a follow up records request asking for the individual case counts, as well as asking for the state to provide a list of other facilities, including behavioral health facilities and prisons, with confirmed cases.

In a statement on Monday, Richard Whitley, director of the Department of Health and Human Services, called the dashboard “one more tool to inform health experts, policy makers, and the public of the COVID-19 situation in Nevada.”

“Our staff is made up of skilled professionals who are working around the clock to provide guidance and care to people working and living in these facilities,” Whitley said. “This information will strengthen our ability to identify cases and work with partners to address those as quickly as possible.”

According to the dashboard, the facility with the most cases — as well as the highest percentage of cases — continues to be Willow Springs Center, a youth residential treatment facility in Reno with a previously identified outbreak of COVID-19. Twenty-five people, or a third of residents, have tested positive for the virus, as have 17 staff members, and there has been one death connected to the facility.

Lakeside Health and Wellness, a skilled nursing facility in Reno, has had the most deaths of any facility, at three. The other eight facilities with reported COVID-19 deaths are:

  • Advanced Health Care of Summerlin: 2
  • Life Care Center of Las Vegas: 1
  • Merrill Gardens of Green Valley Ranch: 2
  • Premier Health and Rehab in Las Vegas: 1
  • Prestige Senior Living at Mira Loma: 2
  • Silver Skye Deer Springs Assisted Living: 1
  • Southern Nevada Veterans Home: 1
  • Willow Springs: 1

More than half of the facilities with confirmed cases are skilled nursing facilities. Those 16 facilities are:

  • Advanced Health Care of Summerlin: 6 residents (18.8 percent of total residents) and two staff members (3.6 percent of total staff)
  • Delmar Gardens in Henderson: one staff member (0.5 percent of total staff)

There are four behavioral health care inpatient facilities with confirmed cases. They are:

  • Lake’s Crossing Center in Sparks: one staff member (1 percent of total staff)
  • Seven Hills Behavioral Health Hospital in Henderson: two staff members (4 percent of total staff)
  • West Hills Behavioral Health Hospital in Reno: one staff member (2 percent of total staff)
  • Willow Springs Center in Reno: 25 residents (33.3 percent) and 17 staff members (percent not given)
