A’s to play six ‘home’ games in Las Vegas in 2026 while future stadium is built

The Athletics will play six games in Las Vegas in June 2026, setting up the relocating baseball team’s first regular-season home games in Southern Nevada two years ahead of the expected opening of the team’s $2 billion ballpark on the Strip.
The games — three with the Milwaukee Brewers, June 8-10, followed by three with the Colorado Rockies, June 12-14 — will be played at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin after approval by Major League Baseball on Tuesday. The 10,000-seat stadium is home to the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the A’s.
Game times and ticket information will be released at a later date.
In an interview, A’s President Marc Badain gave full credit to Aviators President Don Logan for making the games happen.
“He's been pushing for this for a while. There's a lot of machinations that you have to go through,” Badain said. He said there were a couple of options offered in the schedule, but “the dates in June made the most sense.”
The A’s, who left Oakland after 57 years following the 2024 season, are sharing the 14,000-seat Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento for the next three seasons with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats while the team’s 33,000-capacity stadium is being developed on the Strip.
According to the A’s, Aviators season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to the Las Vegas home games, followed by fans who signed up for the 2028 season ticket priority access list. Available tickets will then go on sale to the general public.
The A’s never committed to playing any regular-season games in Las Vegas during the 2023 legislative special session that led to the passage of SB1, which provides $350 million in public financing for the ballpark. At the time, it was thought the A’s would play three additional seasons in Oakland.
The A’s held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the stadium in June following months of site work. A concrete foundation, which will support the stadium’s steel structure, is being poured. Mortenson | McCarthy, the contractor overseeing the project, released a timeline showing steel placement to start early next year.
Badain told the Las Vegas Stadium Authority board last week the public should start seeing some “vertical work” on the stadium by the end of September or the beginning of October.
The A’s played two spring training games at Las Vegas Ballpark each of the last three seasons as part of Big League Weekend. The team played spring training games five other times in Las Vegas in 1994, 1997, 2000, 2015 and 2020.
The 2026 home games won’t be the first time the A’s will play regular-season baseball in Las Vegas.
Thirty years ago, due to construction issues at the Oakland Coliseum, the A’s opened the 1996 season at the 9,370-seat Cashman Field. The A’s finished 2-4 following three games with the Toronto Blue Jays and three games with the Detroit Tigers. The series was the first time in 40 years that a major league team played a regular-season game in a minor league park.
The A’s are 61-72 after winning Monday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers 8-3 in Sacramento. The team has averaged almost 9,600 fans for 64 home games.
