Want to partner with The Nevada Independent? Here's how.

Since The Nevada Independent was launched in 2017, we've established a number of partnerships with other news organizations in the state.
These partnerships allow other organizations — largely serving rural areas — to republish our stories for free. It's a win-win — we get our excellent stories and journalism in front of readers who may not know about us, and these news organizations get a free, reliable and trustworthy story that they likely would not be able to produce themselves.
But outside of a single 2017 blog post, we haven't had any kind of comprehensive, public-facing list of the news organizations we're partnering with.
That's why this week, we've put together a new Media Partners page, which (Captain Obvious alert) lists out all of our media partners and news organizations we work with.
The launch of this page is a great reminder — we want to collaborate! If you're running or involved in a Nevada-based publication, please reach out to us at [email protected] about signing a memorandum of understanding to begin cross-publishing our work. We also send out a weekly email to our media partners highlighting past and upcoming stories of interest.
It's well-documented that Nevada has a serious shortage of journalists — our state ranks dead last in the country for the number of local journalists per capita. Supporting a healthy and vibrant media ecosystem — and working together to ensure we're complementing each other rather than duplicating efforts — is the best way forward for this industry to survive and possibly even thrive in the future.
On the topic of new pages, you may have also noticed that we recently launched a new corrections page. While we strive for perfection, we're human, and we want to be transparent with our readers when we make a substantive change to our stories. The page publicly lists out any corrections or major changes to our stories in one centralized place, and it comes in addition to disclosures you'll find directly on the story where they're made.
Although we can't promise you'll be happy with the tone, headline or photo choice of every article we publish, we are committed to promptly correcting factual errors and adding clarifying information that could substantially change how a story is received. Email us at [email protected] to let us know if you spot an error.
Transparency and accountability were our goals when we started almost a decade ago. As these new changes show, they're still our goals today.
