Mark Amodei on tariffs, federal workforce cuts and why he's not holding town halls

As the only Republican in Nevada’s congressional delegation, Amodei is keenly aware that he might be the only Nevadan in Washington (sorry, Kash Patel) that the new administration is willing to hear out. In an interview Tuesday, he described how he is tackling the responsibility.

How will Trump's potential tariffs affect Nevada?

Aguero said the lack of tariff details makes it hard to forecast any one outcome for a Nevada industry or the state’s economy as a whole — if the tariffs are successful in bolstering domestic manufacturing, Nevada would benefit; if they raise prices on fuel, Nevada could suffer.

D.C. Download: How Cortez Masto, Rosen might vote on Trump Cabinet nominees

Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Jacky Rosen (D-NV) will be part of the minority next year, and as such, likely won’t swing any decisions — President-elect Donald Trump can afford to lose three Republican votes on any nominee. But it’s their first opportunity to take stances on Trump policy via his personnel and question them on Nevada-specific issues.

DeSantis aside, few presidential hopefuls heading to early state Nevada

Relative to the rest of the GOP field, DeSantis made an early splash at last weekend's Basque Fry. But relative to prior Republican contests, Nevada has been little more than an afterthought to the growing presidential primary field, even though there are fewer than eight months remaining until the state’s Feb. 6 primary.

Democrats tout plans for Indian Country, urge voter access at second-ever Native American presidential candidate forum

At the Native American Presidential Forum on Wednesday, Democratic presidential hopeful Tom Steyer accused the Republican Party of “doing everything it can” to take voting rights away from Americans, especially Native Americans. The forum, hosted at UNLV by the voting rights advocacy group Four Directions and Nevada’s tribes, was the second-ever of its kind. Though the first Native forum was hosted in Sioux City, Iowa last summer, organizers wanted to hold another event in a state with a significant Native population and that will be primary a focus for get-out-the-vote efforts in 2020.
