Adam Laxalt's mom promises her son won't get rid of pre-existing condition protections in new ad

Focus: Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt
Who's paying for it: Laxalt's campaign
Size of buy: The campaign did not disclose the size of the ad buy.
When it starts: Oct. 22
Where it's running: The campaign did not disclose which markets the ad will air in.
The gist: Featuring Laxalt's mother, Michelle, the ad responds to Democratic criticism that Laxalt hasn't done anything as attorney general to support federal law prohibiting insurance companies from discriminating against people with pre-existing medical conditions.
In the ad, Michelle Laxalt says she raised her children as a single mother despite a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, or MS, over the course of her son's life and that suggestions he would end those protections as governor are false.
"Steve Sisolak is a career politician," she says in the ad. "When he says my son would deprive you of pre-existing condition coverage, he's a liar. I am a pre-existing condition."
Laxalt opposed Nevada's expansion of Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act itself, but has said in his current run for governor that he "fully support(s)" protecting people with pre-existing conditions.
