Focus: Steven Horsford

Who’s paying for it: Independence USA PAC, which is affiliated with former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg

Size of buy: It’s part of a $2.66 million ad buy.

When it starts: Oct. 26

Where it’s running: Las Vegas market

The gist: The 30-second ad accuses Republican Cresent Hardy, who’s running in Nevada’s 4th Congressional District against Horsford, of supporting plans to store nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain. Then the spot pivots to Horsford, who the narrator says opposes using Yucca Mountain for that purpose.

“His approach: Find another use that doesn’t endanger our families,” the narrator says. “Steven Horsford — he’ll stand up for Nevada.”

Yucca Mountain is one of the state’s longest-running debates. Hardy, who’s been more open to the idea, told The Nevada Independent earlier this year that he wants the state’s residents to decide.
