DCCC up with ad against Tarkanian
Focus: Third Congressional District Republican candidate Danny Tarkanian
Who’s paying for it: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee
Size of buy: Part of a more than $3 million campaign
When it starts: Sept. 18
Where it’s running: Las Vegas
The gist: The ad takes aim at Tarkanian and his seven failed attempts to run for office and compares the candidate to Victor Lustig, a con artist famous for trying to sell the Eiffel Tower. It mentions the “13 fraudulent charities” cited in a 2006 letter to Tarkanian from the former assistant U.S. attorney, which, the ad said, according to a 2016 news report, “went on to steal millions from seniors through telemarketing scams.” The ad ends with the tagline, “Danny Tarkanian, another con man who can’t hide the truth.”
