Democrats' new ad says Laxalt will 'roll back the clock' on abortion rights

Focus: Adam Laxalt, Republican candidate for governor
Who’s paying for it: Nevada Families First, an affiliate of the Democratic Governors Association
Size of Buy: Six figures
Where it’s running: The DGA did not disclose
When it starts: Posted Oct. 15
The gist: A Las Vegas woman identified as Kim Yates says she’s raising her daughter to be independent and hopes she’ll have all the opportunities Yates had. She then warns that if Laxalt is elected governor, “he’d roll back the clock for her generation.”
The commercial cites Laxalt saying that he would consider overturning a provision, approved by voters in a 1990 referendum, that allows abortion in Nevada. Laxalt said “we’re going to look into it” in response to reporter questions the night of his primary election victory about whether he’d propose repealing the law. His campaign manager later said he had “zero interest in ‘undoing’ the 1990 law.”
The ad also says Laxalt wants to outlaw abortion, citing his response to The Nevada Independent on the matter. He answered a question about whether abortion should be outlawed at all stages or just one with the response, “I’m pro-life.”
