Last September, Josiah Kenyon, 35, of Winnemucca, Nevada, pleaded guilty to two assault-related felonies against officers committed during the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. capitol breach. Earlier this month, he was sentenced to 72 months in prison, 36 months of supervised release and was ordered to pay $43,315.25 in restitution.

On the day of the breach, Kenyon, dressed in a Jack Skelington costume, struck officers with “what appeared to be a table leg with a protruding nail,” according to court documents cited by the U.S. Justice Department. He hit one officer in the leg, causing the officer to fall to the ground, and another in the head, “momentarily lodging” the table leg between the officer’s helmet and face shield. He also punched a window and then rammed it with a flagpole, causing more than $40,000 in damages.

The Justice Department said more than 1,000 individuals have been arrested for crimes related to the breach, including 320 charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
