Recreational marijuana sales have begun. Which stores are selling?

If you’re wondering where to buy recreational marijuana on the first day it’s legally sold in Nevada, The Nevada Independent has you covered.

Forty-four of the state’s medical marijuana dispensaries have applied for and received special use permits and licenses from state and local officials that allow them to begin selling marijuana to anyone over the age of 21 on Saturday.

But not every medical dispensary in the state will be selling recreational marijuana on launch day — several municipalities with medical dispensaries, including Henderson, Sparks and Carson City, are still working on local ordinances and business license fee structures for recreational stores.

There’s also still a court injunction that limits the role of distributor — which involves transporting marijuana products from a cultivation or production site to a retail store — to licensed liquor distributors. Because they have more hurdles to jump through than medical marijuana companies that also applied to get distribution licenses, there’s concern that the handful of liquor distributors who are seeking approval won’t be ready by July 1, potentially causing problems when stores run out of stock.

But even while state and industry officials are expecting a wild first weekend, they say they’re not concerned with physical product running low. Democratic state Sen. Tick Segerblom — scheduled to be the first official recreational customer at Reef Dispensaries in Las Vegas — said on Thursday that he believes there’s a 30- to 60-day supply in recreational dispensaries, and is confident that liquor distributors will be up and running within a month.

"Watch out. This is the new Amsterdam. This is the new Denver. We have better material, better industry than anywhere else in the world and watch out,” said Segerblom, who’s been marijuana’s biggest champion in the Legislature. “This is, I think, a game changer for the whole state and people are going to come from everywhere to experience it.”

Here’s a look at the status of dispensaries throughout the state, and if they’ve been granted permits to sell recreational marijuana as of Saturday:
