Democratic Senate candidate Jacky Rosen said she donated money received from a prominent California donor connected to the overdose death of a 26-year old male escort to charity last year.

Several other Democrats, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and three members of Congress, have returned or donated financial contributions made by Ed Buck, a prominent Democratic donor and activist connected to the death of 26-year-old Gemmel Moore, who was found dead of a methamphetamine overdose inside Buck’s West Hollywood apartment last year.

Police opened an inquiry into Moore’s death last year to investigate any criminal culpability, and a coroner's report stated that Buck’s apartment was filled with drug paraphernalia at the time of his death.

A spokesman said the campaign decided to donate $1,000 to Safe Nest, a Las Vegas-based counseling service for victims of domestic violence, after learning about the “disturbing” allegations against Buck last year. The campaign reported making the donation on Nov. 21, according to campaign finance reports.

Rosen received a $1,000 donation from Buck in October 2016, during her bid for Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. The congresswoman also donated $5,000 her campaign received from Minnesota Sen. Al Franken to Safe Nest after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced last November.
