Rosen up with new Spanish-language ad drawing parallels between 2018 FIFA World Cup, U.S. Senate race
Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Jacky Rosen is up on television today with a new Spanish-language soccer-themed ad that will run around the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The 30-second ad, titled “Orgullo” or “Pride,” attempts to draw parallels between the importance of the tournament and the U.S. Senate race in Nevada between the Democratic congresswoman and Republican U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, whom she is attempting to unseat at the ballot bot in November. The ad, backed by a five-figure buy and running throughout the World Cup, will run on Telemundo in Las Vegas and also include digital.
The ad opens with a sweeping shot of Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, where the opening match of the soccer tournament will be held today, before cutting to shots of players on the field and fans cheering. It then cuts to shots of the Las Vegas Strip and some rock formations before cutting to another stadium where a screen with Rosen’s picture on it rises up, surrounded by shimmering lights.
“This is our moment of pride, when our teams leave everything on the field,” the narrator says in Spanish. “And here in Nevada we will do the same.”
The ad says that Rosen is “not afraid to stand up to [President Donald] Trump,” highlighting her support for DREAMers and her opposition to Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy.
“Immigrants work, strive and inspire the world,” the narrators says. “And with Jacky’s team we won’t back down.”
