Focus: Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak

Who’s paying for it: Sisolak’s campaign

Size of buy: Part of a six-figure buy

When it starts: Oct. 23

Where it’s running: Reno

The gist: Sisolak, a Clark County commissioner who is better known in Southern Nevada than in Reno, filmed the ad on the campus of the University of Nevada Reno and highlighted his decade-long tenure on the Nevada Board of Regents that started in 1998.

"When I served on the Board of Regents, we invested here in new centers for science, health, and academics," says Sisolak. "Because whether your child chooses a four-year degree or gains new skills through technical programs, they all need the training it takes to compete for today’s jobs."

He promises to create more high-wage jobs and ensure Nevadans are ready to take them.

Groups aligned with Sisolak’s opponent Adam Laxalt have criticized Sisolak for voting in favor of tuition hikes while he was on the board.
