Sisolak to launch six-figure ad buy in Reno market, pitching job creation, technical training
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak plans to launch a TV ad Saturday pitching his plan to create jobs for Nevadans. The six-figure ad buy will begin late in the day on broadcast and cable stations across the Reno market.
Sisolak, who stands before the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center in the ad, advocates for technical training, apprenticeship and business partnerships as a way to ensure that Nevadans fill open new jobs as the state focuses on luring technology companies and manufacturers.
“This is the New Nevada,” Sisolak says in the ad. “America’s largest industrial center just outside of Reno. Technology. Logistics. Manufacturing. It’s all here. Creating thousands of high-paying jobs in the next five years. But here’s the thing: we need to make sure our people have the skills to get those jobs.”
At a recent press conference in Reno, Sisolak, who is the chair of the Clark County Commission, told The Nevada Independent that he plans to spend more time campaigning in Northern Nevada, an area his primary opponent concentrated on heavily. Sisolak lost Washoe County by 3,600 votes to his primary challenger, Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, who ran against her colleague from the left.
Sisolak is also launching a separate ad targeting the Las Vegas market Saturday. The campaign described the Reno buy as in the “substantial” six-figure buy but would not say how much.
