Sisolak's campaign manager departs; his successor hails from the union world
Gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak’s campaign team has experienced a staff shakeup heading into the general election.
Campaign Manager Rob Hill departed the team after the primary election to spend more time with his young family in Santa Fe, New Mexico, according to campaign officials. He will be replaced by Chris Sloan, who most recently worked at the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. He managed the union’s political program for state and federal races.
Campaign officials said Sloan will be “on the ground shortly” in Nevada.
Meanwhile, Communications Director Barb Solish will take on a new role as deputy campaign manager. The campaign’s press secretary, Christina Amestory, will become the communications director.
Hill was one of three high-profile hires Sisolak announced last summer as he geared up for the primary race. He led then-Sen. Barack Obama’s election efforts in Nevada leading up to the 2008 general election. Afterward, Hill served in the Obama White House’s Office of Political Affairs.
Sisolak handily beat his opponent, Chris Giunchigliani, in the primary election, but he’s facing an expensive race against Republican Attorney General Adam Laxalt in the general election. Sisolak currently serves as chairman of the Clark County Commission.
