Nevada Democrats are arguing that the best way for the DNC to move forward is to further elevate the Silver State. 

According to provisional data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were more than 107,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States during 2021, nearly 15 percent increase from 2020.

The state’s under-5 vaccination rate ranks 47th in the country, only ahead of Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana, per an Aug. 3 report from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The state and providers are fighting for control over the same pot of money. In providers' hands, funds go directly to localized services for patients. But in the state's hands, funds must go through layers of red tape before reaching providers, which must then use funds in a limited capacity defined by the state.

Housing advocates and various nonprofits are working to address a need that they say cannot be ignored any longer. Their solutions range from a facility offering health care and other services to a tent drive to solve an immediate need for shelter.

Although a medication regimen can keep those with HIV/AIDS healthy, confounding factors such as poverty, housing issues and food insecurity can make obtaining medicine required to keep HIV at bay more difficult, and all of those have been exacerbated by the pandemic.
