Biden backs Lee for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District in early midterm endorsement

Former Vice President Joe Biden endorsed education advocate and philanthropist Susie Lee today in her bid for Nevada's 3rd Congressional District, one of Biden's earliest endorsements ahead of the 2018 midterm election.

Biden, who is anticipated to be one of the most active Democrats in 2018, said in a statement that he was "proud" to endorse Lee, describing her as a "problem solver." He said that, like him, Lee grew up in a working class family where she benefited from the opportunities provided by the U.S. to families like hers and that she has dedicated her life to providing those opportunities to other kids today.

"At the end of the day, whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, we all want the same things for our kids: good health care, an education that opens the door to a bright future, and a fair shot at getting ahead," Biden said in a statement. "Washington needs more problem solvers like Susie Lee, and I am proud to endorse her for U.S. Congress."

Lee called Biden a "tireless champion for working families" and said she was "honored" to have his support.

Biden campaigned last week for Democrat Conor Lamb in the Pennsylvania special congressional election but has yet to jump into the 2018 midterm full force. Biden has received requests from dozens of candidates asking for his endorsement and to appear with them, according to an ABC News report last week.

Biden's endorsement is yet another to add to the list for Lee, whose supporters include Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Rep. Dina Titus, Rep. Jacky Rosen and former Senators Harry Reid and Richard Bryan. She is also backed by a number of different organizations, including EMILY's List, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the League of Conservation Voters and a handful of unions.
