Lee to begin airing new biographical spot in bid to represent Nevada's 3rd Congressional District

Democratic congressional candidate Susie Lee is going up on television with her first ad ahead of the general election highlighting her background as an education advocate.
Lee, who directly addresses the camera in the 30-second ad, talks about the six years she spent as president of the nonprofit Communities in Schools of Nevada, which focuses on keeping kids in schools and reducing dropout rates. The ad will begin airing on Friday on broadcast and cable and is backed by a six-figure buy.
In the ad, Lee touts how the dropout prevention program today serves more than 60,000 students in 63 schools and has increased its graduation rate to 87 percent.
"The problem? Too many Nevada students at risk of dropping out," Lee says in the ad. "So, as president of the nonprofit, Communities in Schools, I went to work."
Lee then adds that "it's time Washington stops bickering and starts getting results, too."
The ad parallels a similar biographical spot that Lee ran ahead of the primary election in May.
Lee is vying against Republican businessman Danny Tarkanian to represent Nevada's swing 3rd Congressional District, which stretches from suburban Summerlin and Henderson to the southernmost tip of the state. Tarkanian ran for the district in 2016 but lost the race by 1.2 percentage points to Democratic Rep. Jacky Rosen, who is vacating the seat to make a run for the U.S. Senate.
Democrats have about a 5,700-person voter registration advantage over Republicans in the district.
