Focus: Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak

Who’s paying for it: Sisolak’s campaign

When it started: Oct. 5

Size of buy: The ads are part of a six-figure buy

Where it’s running: Las Vegas

The gist:

The pair of ads features Sisolak with his two daughters, Ashley and Carley. In one, the two say Sisolak, as a single dad, took care of them when they were sick. They say he would also protect health care by preserving protections for pre-existing conditions and defending the expansion of Medicaid.

Then Sisolak suggests his Republican opponent Adam Laxalt would not do that. While Laxalt has sharply criticized Obamacare, he said in a new platform statement that he would not roll back the Medicaid expansion and supported protections for pre-existing conditions.

In another, the daughters say Sisolak didn’t have a lot of money growing up, but his parents prioritized education. They say he’ll ensure class sizes are small, teachers get a raise and public funds won’t go to private schools.
