Trump hosting fundraiser to boost Heller, will speak at state GOP convention this weekend

President Donald Trump is returning to Nevada this weekend and is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Nevada Republican Party’s convention in Las Vegas and hold a fundraiser with Sen. Dean Heller.
Trump is scheduled to address the state party’s annual convention at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday — one of just a handful of trips the president has made to the state since being elected and the first directly political event. The Nevada Independent reported news of the president’s planned visit earlier this month.
The president is also scheduled to hold a Saturday fundraising event with Heller, considered the most vulnerable incumbent Republican up for re-election in 2018 and a one-time Trump critic. CNN reported that tickets for a photo with the president were being offered at $15,000, and a “private roundtable” was available for $50,000 a ticket.
The president's past trips to Nevada include a visit to Las Vegas in the aftermath of the mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip and a trip to the American Legion’s annual conference in Reno last August. As a presidential candidate, he also attended a fundraiser for the state Republican Party in Lake Tahoe in August 2016.
