Progressive group releases ad targeting Heller over Kavanaugh confirmation

Focus: U.S. Sen. Dean Heller
Who's paying for it: Demand Justice, a progressive advocacy group
Size of buy: Part of a national $700,000 buy, including six figures in Nevada
When it starts: Sept. 20
Where it's running: Las Vegas on broadcast and cable
The gist: Demand Justice, which opposes U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is going up on television for the first time in Nevada asking whether U.S. Sen. Dean Heller will support an independent investigation into allegations against the federal judge. The 30-second spot includes excerpts from a letter Kavanaugh's accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, wrote to Senator Dianne Feinstein alleging that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party in high school.
"When fifteen-year-old Christine tried to scream, her attacker covered her mouth so no one could hear her," the ad says. "Will Dean Heller listen to her now?"
On Wednesday, Heller called the allegations against Kavanaugh a "hiccup" in the confirmation process and predicted he would soon be confirmed.
