This year at The Nevada Independent, we published stories about the Oakland A’s seeking public funding to move to Las Vegas, a pop-up clinic bringing health care to uninsured people in rural Pahrump, retired clowns who found community in Las Vegas, and more.

Our stories wouldn’t be complete without the photographs that accompanied them.

Photojournalists Jeff Scheid, David Calvert and Daniel Clark brought their unique perspectives to the important moments that shaped the trajectory of our state. As visual storytellers, their images conveyed nuanced emotions that are hard to put into words, and they helped Nevadans better understand their neighbors.

As 2023 ends, spend a few moments with some of our favorite images of the year. For more about each photo, click on the image to read the original story.
