Seaman seeks promotion to Las Vegas mayor after five years on the council

Victoria Seaman, who is in the middle of a four-year term on the Las Vegas City Council, is seeking to win election as Las Vegas mayor. She faces Shelley Berkley a 14-year member of Congress, in the November general election.

Vegas council votes to extend criminal penalties to sidewalks not covered by encampment ordinance

The Las Vegas City Council on Wednesday is expected to vote on an ordinance to allow city officials to “designate hours of sidewalk cleaning” in areas that are not already covered by an approved ordinance that makes it illegal to sit or lie down in many parts of town. Deputy City Attorney Jeff Dorocak says that the ordinance is intended to give allow the city to clean areas where encampments would be "still available," such as sidewalks or parking lots in commercial or industrial areas.
